This time last year I opened up a new PNC checking account (or as PNC calls it, a virtual wallet) , and got a $300 sign up bonus, and it looks like PNC is giving out a similar offer with the same amount of money this year as well. While I don’t remember if the $50 and $200 bonus are the same, here are the requirements to put some extra money in your pocket.
For $50:
- Open a Virtual Wallet checking account
- Set up a direct deposit of $500 per month
- Make at least 10 debit purchases with your new PNC debit card
- To avoid the $7 service fee, have at least $500 minimum balance
For $200
- Open a Virtual Wallet with Performance Spend checking account
- Set up a direct deposit of $2000 per month
- Make at least 10 debit purchases with your new PNC debit card
- Deposit $200 at the opening of your account
- To avoid the $15 service fee, have at least $2000 minimum balance
For $300
- Open a Virtual Wallet with Select checking account
- Set up a direct deposit of $5000 per month
- Make at least 10 debit purchases with your new PNC debit card
- Deposit at least $300 at the opening of your account.
- To avoid the$25 service fee, have at least $5000 minimum balance

If you have a main account where you do most of your payments, you might say this won’t work for you. What you can do is link your bank accounts together and once you get paid, transfer the money over to your main account so you can still pay your bills. A hassle? Maybe. But who gives you $200 or $300 for free (I guess you can say it takes 2 hours of your time making the account, transferring the money online etc).
