Groceries. Everyone does grocery shopping! It’s an essential part of our survival, we need to eat. I supposed some us do eat out a lot, but I can’t fathom the idea of not visiting the grocery store several times a year. Cookies, beer, bananas, ice cream, I can go on and on…. well, let’s get to the meat of the article and see how we can get money in your pocket.
Throughout the year, certain credit cards offer revolving 5% cash back rewards in specified categories, and from April-June, the Chase Freedom credit card offered 5% back at groceries. How do you get $75 for grocery shopping? Well, from April to end of the June you must spend $1500 to get the 5%, or in this case, $75.
That’s $500 a month for 3 months, that’s a lot of groceries! I know I typically don’t spend $500 a month on groceries, but I do know I spend more then $1500 a year on groceries throughout the year. So what do we do? We buy grocery store gift cards and use them later in the year! That’s what I’ve been doing for several years now; I buy the remaining amount of money I need to reach the $1500 limit in gift cards and then use them later.
At the end of the day $75 is money in my pocket, and I know I will be doing grocery shopping for the rest of the year. The gift cards don’t expire (double check with your grocery store), and now I don’t need to worry about grocery money for a while since I paid for it up front. It’s a win all around! Give it a try, you have until the end of June to stack up on this offer!
